Sustainability
Working towards a sustainable society is a complex challenge that involves simultaneous assessment and redress of social, economic and ecological impacts at all levels. When you live in an environment as beautiful and precious as the Victorian High Country, this takes on a whole new meaning! At Rundells, our goal is to achieve business success by providing excellence in alpine hospitality, without causing systemic harm to people or the environment. That is, either directly or indirectly, we are committed to improving the life cycle impact of all aspects of our operations.
We realize it is not possible to become sustainable in one giant leap - the journey to becoming sustainable requires a bit of careful planning. It inevitably involves taking many small steps, introducing strategic investments and even accommodating necessary trade-offs along the way, whilst still keeping the end goal in mind. That's why we use The Natural Step Framework to guide our thinking - we firmly believe that sustainability 'success' can only be achieved if we understand what this means in real terms.
Here at Rundells, we understand in principle what sustainability means but know we are not there yet. With your help, and by supporting initiatives such as the 'Keep Winter Cool ' (http://keepwintercool.org) campaign, we will continue to progress on our
journey to becoming a truly sustainable business.
